Another great way of using internet YouTube video to generate press is anytime you put out a press release in a text format, do a video version of it now, most people think press release, they think, Okay, I got a type and it's got to have a heading the date the content. Yeah, there's nothing wrong with that. But traditionally, everyone used press releases because it was too expensive to do video or audio, or use other media writing and typing was the cheapest, easiest thing to do. But these days, if you know how to push a button and talk, you can create video. Here's what I'm suggesting. Absolutely.
Anytime you put out a press release, a press advisory, any communication you have with reporters. What I'm suggesting is do a simple talking head video to go with it. You don't need production values. You don't need graphics. You don't need some string writer. But if you're putting out a press release, about a new office, you're starting in a new town near yours.
And you think someone might find that interesting. Just do a simple video where you talk about it. Don't try to read it, memorize it, don't go out and get teleprompters. Just talk to the camera, and some of what's in the press release. Yeah, it might not get on as the lead story on the BBC. But if there is a local, perhaps even weekly newspaper in this town where you're opening a new office, and they have a website, not only are they likely to include parts of your press release, but they might put the entire video and embed right on their page because they're looking for more content.
So it's something most PR firms don't do because their whole mindset is, oh video that's complicated. We have to have approval from client a lot of extra budget, hire a TV crew There's simply not thinking in terms of simple talking head video. And that's how you can beat the competition. Because by my estimate, 99% plus of all press releases, have no video. There's simply no video. So when you attach a video to your press release, you're going to stand out right away.
There was a reason a long time ago for not doing that expense. But if you have a cell phone, and you do, if you have a webcam, if you have a computer, if you have a tablet, if you have an iPad, you've got a video camera. All you have to do is hit record, talk, stop, upload it to your YouTube channel, and then take the URL, the web address and put it into your website. It really is that simple folks. So every press release you get may generate more coverage. Now I've done this And some major reputable media outlets like the street comm just posted my entire video didn't even tell me, which is fine.
But I got all of my viewpoints out completely unedited. It could it's not gonna happen every time, but it could happen to you. And if you're going to spend the time of writing and rewriting a press release, which could take an hour or more, why not just spend an extra five minutes summing it up, one take on video and attaching it
