Okay, let's now talk about the most important part about this business. And if you're a freelancer, you're running a freelance business, the most important part, charging money and getting paid. That's right, because you can do great work for people if you don't figure how to get paid. They don't mean to be rude or obnoxious or cheat you but doesn't ever get around to paying you. It's not enough to do good work. Good work in and of itself doesn't result in checks flowing your way.

You have to have a system of charging a system of collecting money and not relaxing until you see it in your bank account. A lot of freelancers like I like to talk about money. It's embarrassing. You know, it's embarrassing checks bouncing yours. You know, it's embarrassing. being homeless.

Yeah, you got To learn how to charge money now, this is a particular problem, frankly, for people who have been successful in their initial careers. I've seen countless people who are very successful TV reporters, talk show host 30 year career sometimes at major networks. And they retire or forced out or announced that they're quitting to start a media training business. And they get a lot of publicity and people know and love them. They have great media credentials. They do one training their first year.

And they never do another training the rest of their life. Why? They never figured out how to ask for money because when they worked in a big corporation, they got to do the fun stuff. And sort of the dirty sales people on the other end of the building. They're the ones who had to ask for money, ask for the grubby money. They were beyond that they didn't talk to that side of the building.

And it's that way in a lot of organizations, whether it's a newspaper or a TV station, or perhaps the business that you're in before you started freelancing. Here's the thing, you want to be a freelancer, you got to get over that. You have got to be able to look people in the eye. Tell them what you're worth to them, and what they should pay you. And then you got to collect it, it really comes down to that, because you can do great work, you could do wildly creative work, have people love you. And never make any money, you're not making enough money for it to all add up.

So pay very close to this section. Take highly specific careful notes. Because you can do everything else. Well in this course you don't get this part right, you're wasting your time. On the other hand, you get this part just right. You can be frankly a little rough around the edges and other places.

I'm not advocating that but you can maybe not do blog post very often, or do something wrong or bothers someone or they not like your you can still run a really successful freelance business if you do and I'm talking about in this section the right way. So pay attention
