Get a business card. I know some of you're saying all that's old fashioned that stodgy young hip people like me Don't use business cards. Guess what, I guarantee you, some people, you'll meet a man like you. They may think they want to use your service. They think they'll never forget. You think they'll never forget you that they will forget.
You. Give them a business card. Maybe it gets thrown to the back of a desk somewhere. Maybe it's in the back of a drawer. Six months a year later, they're thinking, Oh, yeah, I met that one person who does this thing. I need a card somewhere.
I'll remember their name. I just know the car. It will be a trigger. It will help them remember you. And there's your phone number. There's your email.
It also establishes you as a professional. freelancers like babysitters don't have business cards by a large someday but most don't. Professional consultants, experts have thought These highly paid professionals all have business cards. And these days you can get it online, very inexpensive. Don't go for the free ones that say this is free from this service. And as an add on, spend 20 bucks, have a business card.
If you want to have a nice logo and all that fun, but don't waste a lot of time. On fancy logos. The main thing is, people need to see your name. If you have a business name, put the business name, your phone number, your address, even if it's a personal address, your email address, and when you meet someone, you've had a conversation, give it to them, ask them for their act professional. Little things like this are markers because everyone is judging you. They're trying to judge would I be comfortable hiring this person would I be comfortable recommending this person to someone to know or something One in my company, you're constantly trying to put out markers there to make people feel more comfortable about you.
And to make them comfortable recommending you to other people. We all have friends that we're happy to hang out with, have a beer house, have a glass of wine and watch a game with that we've never in a million years, want to introduce them to our most important client. Don't be like that. You want to be someone who I'm not saying you have to be on all the time and be perfect all the time. But even your friends need to know you have a business card that you are very professional, and that no one will ever get embarrassed by introducing you or recommending you. So many of the things I do in my marketing efforts are about building a comfort level with a prospect to is been put in charge with coming up with three or four proposals.
And then recommending one or two to the boss, I want to make them completely comfortable knowing that if they recommend me, they're not going to be embarrassed. That's why I do things like have business cards, have websites, give detailed proposals with references on video. That's why I get a personalized video proposal so they can see me. That's why I put them on my newsletter list if they are okay with that. That's why I put out new videos every single day. That's why I show them testimonials and references, General ones, but also ones from people in their industry.
There's no one of these things that really puts them over the top. That's why I give them copies of my books. It's not that any one piece is the deciding factor in them hiring me. But you put all those things together and it builds a comfort level. So that they think okay if I recommend this guy, my you know what's covered because he had all these testimonials from people in our industry. He seemed like he was everywhere.
When I googled any of our terms, I saw his website everywhere. He's clearly a heavy hitter in the industry. I can't go No one can criticize me. If I recommend him and we hire him. That's what I'm looking for. That's what you should be looking for as well.
