Simple tip, it's simple for me to say it's harder to actually implement but it will save you massive amounts of time. Only look at an email once, read it one time, and then do something. delete it, file it. Answer it may be forwarded. But do it right then a huge, huge destroyer of productivity is this practice of opening up an email? No, I'll get to it later.
I don't feel like it. And before you know a day and a half has gone by, you've got 100 emails, two thirds of them that have been opened the other third haven't, and you're just lost in this maze. Big, big problem be more decisive. Very few emails that are going to make or break your career although some could. You've got to learn how to prioritize And have yourself in the right frame of mind for dealing with email. You're in a big hurry or worst case scenario, you're a stoplight, opening up email and saying something important from a client or a boss and then saying, Oh, it's green light, I gotta go.
That's a horrible way to use to at every level, safety level, multitasking level and email level. So big, big concept, read your email once and then get rid of it.
